About this training

Summary

Covered overhead line conductors are equipped with a plastic covering (XLPE-based) as protection against accidental contact with grounded parts respectively against accidental contact with other, at least covered live parts (e.g. other covered overhead line conductors) - This plastic cover is not a touch-proof, full protecting insulation - The covered overhead line conductors are designed for the use in high-voltage overhead lines with rated voltages up to 30 kV AC - The application of covered overhead line conductors is exclusively allowed on suitable insulators, which are designed for the rated voltage of the overhead line - As protection against negative influences by water penetration, the conductor may be equipped with measures to maintain longitudinal water tightness
