Samenvatting

1.1 Toepassingsgebied van EN 1998-5(1) Dit document stelt algemene principes vast voor het ontwerp en de beoordeling van geotechnische systemen in seismische regio' s. Het geeft algemene regels die relevant zijn voor alle families van geotechnische constructies, voor het ontwerp van funderingen, keerconstructies en ondergrondse constructies en vult EN 1997-3 aan voor de seismische ontwerpsituatie.(2) Dit document bevat de basisprestatievereisten en nalevingscriteria die van toepassing zijn op geotechnische constructies en geotechnische systemen in seismische regio' s.(3) Dit document verwijst naar de regels voor de weergave van seismische acties en de beschrijving van de seismische ontwerpsituaties zoals gedefinieerd in EN 1998-1-1 en geeft een specifieke definitie van de seismische actie die van toepassing is op geotechnische constructies.1.2 Veronderstellingen(1) De veronderstellingen van EN 1990 zijn van toepassing op dit document.
